A time for transition...
Hello friends,
It’s been some time since I last wrote to you all. Forgive me, as while it has been quiet on the digital front, the behind-the-scenes at Havid Nagan has been anything but. I prefer to update you all only when I’ve made significant progress on my endeavors in closing out the final deliveries of the HN00’s and the development of HN01 Lucine.
It is no secret that the production of the -00’s was significantly delayed but I, along with Schwarz-Etienne, and our other partners, have been doing everything possible to ensure, not only do they get delivered as soon as possible, but in a qualitative manner. I’ve delivered 75 as of now, with the remaining 40 due within the next month or so. The manufacture (SE) moved from one location to another, still in La Chaux-de-Fonds, and the tornado did not help matters so we’d lost the month of July for production and deliveries. By end of September, I hope to be done with the final deliveries of the -00 and transition into the debut of my next creation, HN01.
The release of a new watch, before all else is considered, is to find its predicate within not only the market at large, but within the context of Havid Nagan as a brand. The watch must have a reason to exist; first and foremost to me, then to you, the collector, and over time, for it to have contributed something to the history of horology. While the great watchmakers of our time contribute in their way of advancing technology, I, upon long reflection and consideration, want my contribution to be the modern interpretation of classical design. That’s not to say I do not have my own thoughts and plans on developing new technologies to do things that have not been done, but it would be obtuse to say my contribution is the same as a watchmaker’s.
As I contemplated the design of -01, what it means to the brand and model line, and how it charts the course to more complication and nuance within the Havid Nagan design language, a separate thought, or question rather, occurs, more frequently now than before. What would a Havid Nagan dress watch resemble? While I hate to confine my watches to specific attributes and/or uses, there is a part of my mind that has always wondered. Rest assured, my curiosity, and hopefully yours, will be satisfied in the near future…
I cannot wait to reveal the HN01 to the world in the coming months as it has been under development and thoughtful consideration for 2 years now. I plan on hosting the first official Havid Nagan event in Downtown Los Angeles in late-October, at which I will thank you all for your continued support, meet some of you in person for the first time, and debut HN01 Lucine.
Exciting times ahead,
Aren J BAZERKANIAN
