A family of gratitude

Hello friends,

Admittedly, I’ve had trouble writing in the Journal in the past few attempts. For every time I tried to cohere ideas and thoughts, for some reason or another, they’d be met with no logical or significant end. That’s not to say I’ve been infected with some form of thoughtlessness, rather, as is the case in many of life’s musings, sometimes there’s nothing to be said.

It is Sunday July 31st 3:09 PM. Traditionally, my family, similarly with many of yours, has used Sundays to recuperate from the previous week and prepare for the upcoming days of effort. In the same light, we have used these days of quiet and laze, to give thanks, or at the very least, ponder on gratitude for our lives. Today, not with any specific designation, although distinct enough, I felt it necessary to give thanks not only for the countless blessings of my life, but to you. My early supporters. My family.

I often think about a young Francois-Paul Journe and the ambition of his undertaking. I think about the watchmakers and makers of watches. I think about the ever-increasing independent brands and their respective leadership, sprouting up in our small but dense world, shedding new light on what it means to build a watch brand. I think about the massive challenge lying ahead for all of us, in varying stages or capacities. How grateful one must be for the supporters that enable us to chase our dreams and ambitions. It is, unequivocally so, gratefulness that allows me to not only continue on this journey, but to act as the beacon of hope for achievement.

The assumed ignorance or naiveté that normally accompanies one with the humbling success Havid Nagan has received is not lost on me. I know it’s early. I know the path is not clear yet. Regardless, I feel utter gratitude for you all. It is because of you, the early supporter, the investor, the collector, the pure enthusiast, that enables one to go about their respective ambition within the context of this industry. We all know the adage and one collectors often hear, “it is not about the destination, but the journey”. This holds true with me and with the values of Havid Nagan.

On this day, a day of no particular significance, I would like to simply say thank you. Thank you to the collectors, those of which I have already had the honor to call my family, but to the strangers I will surely call upon in the same light as our relationships develop. Thank you to the journalists, editors, and production teams for their efforts and for their saying, “Yes”. For lending me their ears to hear and tell my story. Thank you to my manufacturing partners for allowing me to realize my creations.

While HN01 is being incubated and developed, while the sales of HN00 strongly continue, while I meet with new fascinating and brilliant collectors, while I show the world what it means to be part of Havid Nagan, and while I am granted the opportunity to build my dream and the eventuality of my own ambitions, I do so with overwhelming gratitude. Winston Chruchill was quoted, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” You all have made my life. For this, I am forever indebted to you.

Rest with gratitude, my friends. Exciting times await.
